Qualification Overview

The Level 4 Diploma Master Practitioner in Personal Training (RQF) will enable learners to provide exercise to a range of clients with conditions including Diabetes, Lower back Pain and Obesity. The Level 4 Diploma Master Practitioner in Personal Training (RQF) will take learners through planning exercise as a personal trainer, and for gym-based exercise, enabling them to successfully deliver a range of exercises and develop their own personal training business.

COURSE DETAILS

Funded for individuals over the age of 19

Course Length: 1 days per week for 14-16 weeks, 09.30-16.30. Courses run in line with the school academic year and we therefore have breaks for half-terms, Easter, Christmas and the Summer holidays.

Type: Blended learning – classroom based 1 day a week and independent study (recommended 10 hours a week)

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification.

Applicants will also be required to complete a functional skills assessment upon enrolment.

Principles of health and wellbeing for exercise, fitness and health

You’ll develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of exercise, including effective warm-up/cool-down exercises, cardiovascular activities, bodyweight and free-weight movements, and resistance training concepts’ including how to include them in an effective, varied training plan.

Anatomy physiology and kinesiology for exercise and health

Understanding how the body works is fundamental to successful gym instruction. This course will provide you with the necessary knowledge to keep your training plans safe and effective, covering the heart and circulatory, respiratory, and digestive systems.

Know how to support clients lifestyle management and enhance client motivation for exercise and physical activity

As a personal trainer you will be someone that ambitious clients look to for support and direction. This course will further your ability to lead by example and be the trusted advisor and support figure your clients need.

Principles of professional practice and health and safety in a fitness environment

Safety is paramount in fitness environments. As such you’ll learn how to identify and control risk factors, how to appropriately safeguard children and vulnerable adults, and what emergency procedures exist within a gym or fitness environment.

Planning professional practice with effective consultations and assessments for gym-based exercise sessions

Everybody is different, and goals can vary widely from client to client. This course will teach you how to successfully tailor your training programs to each individual, ensuring their experience is as fun and rewarding as possible.

Instructing professional practice and effective exercise supervision in gym-based exercise sessions

It’s easy for individuals new to fitness to lose confidence and motivation, and even experienced gym-goers can feel like they’ve hit a wall sometimes. You will learn all about how to train clients in a way that keeps them both engaged by the content of your training and motivated to keep pushing themselves to new heights. 

Applying nutritional principles to personal training

You are what you eat, and the Level 3 Personal Trainer Course will expand your knowledge of nutrition in a physical activity programme. Each client is different, and an advanced nutritional knowledge covering a wider range of diets (including vegetarian and vegan) will set you apart from the rest.

Planning exercise Programme design for Personal Training Client

Covering techniques to develop client motivation, guide them through goal-setting and more, the course will endow you with all the knowledge and skills required to put together and lead clients through the most effective, fun and rewarding personal training plans possible.

You’ll learn how to design personal training sessions with individual client needs in mind, including considerations for clients with disabilities or special requirements, and covering training programmes taking place outside of the gym environment.

The purpose of the Level 4 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (RQF) is to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills, and understanding that is needed to be able to conduct subjective and objective assessments, provide Sports Massage techniques to prevent and manage injury, and to be confident in treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair.
